Financial Education

Financial Education is an important life skill that equips an individual with the right knowledge and skills required to ensure his or her financial well-being.

In Seychelles, the emphasis on financial education was given a boost in 2017 with the launching of a three-year National Financial Education Strategy, stemming from the findings of a Financial Literacy Baseline Survey conducted in 2016.

Through this strategy, the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) in collaboration with other stakeholders is committed to enhance the level of financial education in the country, with a particular focus on four main segments namely: adults in the formal workplace, owners and employees of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) including farmers and fishermen, the youth, and the socially and financially vulnerable.

The objective is to raise awareness on financial-related matters and increase the knowledge of the population so that they can make well-informed decisions when accessing financial services and products and ultimately improve their financial wellbeing.
