Balance of Payments Survey

Please read this and the explanatory notes carefully prior to completing the attached form.

The BOP statistics is a record of one country's transactions with the rest of the world for a specific period in time.  In our case, this should cover any transaction between a Seychelles ’ resident and nonresidents.  A resident of an economy is a person, firm or entity that has a “centre of economic interest” in the territory: dwelling, place of production, or other premises, from which the unit engages in economic activities and transactions on a significant scale, for a year or more.

BOP statistics follow the accrual accounting rules and therefore refers to flows at the time economic value is created, transformed, exchanged, transferred, or extinguished.

This survey is very important since it will give a correct representation of the country’s BOP position.  Such statistics are used by the authority as guidelines for the formulation of economic policies and also as indication or a measure of effectiveness of relevant policies being implemented.

Please note that the Central Bank of Seychelles Act 2004, guarantees the confidentiality of the information received from this survey.
