’ resident and non-residents. A resident of an economy is a person, firm or entity that has a “centre of economic interest” in the territory: dwelling, place of production, or other premises, from which the unit engages in economic activities and transactions on a significant scale, for a year or more.
BOP compilation follow the accrual accounting rules and therefore refers to flows at the time economic value is created, transformed, exchanged, transferred, or extinguished. IIP statistics which has a close link with BOP statistics record position data and allows the computation of the country’s net international investment position.
The external sector survey is very important since it allows for the compilation of correct BOP and IIP statistics. Such statistics are used by the authority as guidelines for the formulation of economic policies and also as indication or a measure of the effectiveness of relevant policies being implemented. It is therefore critical that the completed forms are submitted promptly.
Please note that the Central Bank of Seychelles Act 2004, as amended, which gives the Bank the legal mandate to collect such information also guarantees the confidentiality of the information received from this survey.
